Australis opted to bowl first and made Sri Lanka look mediocer , with a clinical display to prove their superiority by thumping a hapless Sri Lanka bowling attack to win by 7 wickets and 3 overs to spare.
Sri Lanka got off to a good start and were crusing well with 78 runs for 1 wickets with Asalanka in sublime form , with the bat yet again.
Adam Zampa man of the match turned it around when he had the left hander caught at mid wicket by Steven Smith for 35 , after which things fell apart.
Kushal Perera was going well on 35 , but he got an unplayable yorker from Mitchell Srarch , and in the twinkle of an eye , Sri Lanka choked on 94 fir 5 wickets. Thanks to Bhanuka Rajapaksha, a will paced 33 not out helped Sri Lanka to a par score of 154 for 6 wickets.
The Australian openers Aaron Finch and David Warner simply had a buffet with an hapless pace attack , bowled by Lahiru Kumar and Dushmantha Chameera. They carted them to all parts of the Dubai Sradium.
Kushal Perera was hopeless with the glove. He dropped the easiest of catches , whenvDavid Warner was on 18 , and Warner simply made the Lankans pay for the folly. He made a fantastic 65 , with Aaron Finch plundering the bowling with his 37 , striking at a 180 percent, and that too at will.
It was easy pickings for the mighty Aussies, so much so , that they looked the tournament favourits , since their top order got into form.
Sri Lanka, could have made 180 , if they had some support from the middle order , however , the Australian bowlers were simply too good .
Well played Australia Sri Lanka are in the death group. They now have three big giants in England , South Africa and the West Indies to cope with.
