Martin Guptil guides New Zealand to a 16 run win over Scotland.

Kyle Coetzer, the Scottish Captain opted to bowl first after winning the toss against the Kiwis in Dubai in a group ” B” game today.

Martin Guptil did well to hold the innings together with a blistering 93 with 6 sixes during his on slaught against the popers. Glenn Philip contribited with 33 , however, the big hitting Daryl Mitchel looked off colour and was out for 13 LBW to an umpires call after he referred the decision, to the bowling of Safyaan Shariff.

Kane Williamson was caught down the leg side by Mathew Cross the Wicket keeper in the same over for no score , in the same over.

Much was expected from the reliable Devon Conway , wgo guilty of reverse sweeping the first ball he faced from spinner Mark Watt , caught by Mathew Cross the keeper for just one run and the Kiwis slumped to 52 for 3 in the 8th over.

Dark clouds set in , the Kiwis looked out of sought , but Martin Guptil and Glen Philips saved the day for the black caps , with the former scoring 93 and the latter piling up 33 , to record a match winning total of 172 for 5 Wickets at the end of 20 overs.

Scotland were very impressive in their bowling. They look an improved unit. Seamer Safyann Shariff looks world class. He scalped 2 victims for 28 runs , whilst left arem spinner Mark Watt bowled miserly for his 1 for 13 off his allocated 4 overs.

The Scotts gave a scare to the high riding Kiwis falling short by only 16 runs. 7 batters got into double figures , with Michael Leask leading the charge with an unbeaten 42.

Mathew Cross cartered Adam Milin for 5 hits to the fence in one over for his 27. Opener George Munsey made 22 , Richard Berringhton 20.

Trent Boult was impressive with his 2 scalps for 29. Ish Sodhi bowled short and was punished fir 42 runs , despite his 2 scalps that came off 2 poor shots off the bats of George Munsey and Richard Berringhton.

New Zealand get the much needed 2 points , however they were given a scare by the Scotts.
