Kane Williamson lost another toss at Sharjah today and his team was asked to bat by Gehard Eramus the Namibian skipper.
Martin Guptil and Daryl Mitchel were surprisingly unconvincing on a slow and low pitch at Sharjah.
Martin got himself out when he was caught off a David Wiese long hop at deep mid off for 18.
Darryl Mitchell trying to force the pace fell victim to the leg spin of Scholtz at deep mid on. The kiwis lost 2 wickets for 43 in the power play overs.
Kane Williamson was undone as he played on to an Eramus off spinner for 27. Devon Convey was run out trying a second run for 17 , which took New Zealand to a total of 91 at the end of the 15th over.
Then came the fire works of Glenn Philips and Jimmy Neesham. The left hand , right hand combination was too good for the Namibians.
The Namibians leaked 72 runs in the last 5 overs , as New Zealand ended up with a competitive score of 163 for 4 wickets at the conclusion of their 20 overs.
Namibia did well upfront in not loosing a wicket in the power play overs and 36 for no loss , and looked impressive.
Michelle Santer bowled Stepen Baard fir 21 , and jimmy Neeshan bowled , Michael Van Lingen for 25 , hence the flood gates opend with Trent Bolt , Tim Southee , picking 2 quick scalps each ,even Ish Sodhi , who looks ordinary, picked up a wicket.
Namibia huffed and puffed to to get to 111 for 7 wickets in 20 overs , and handed a 52 run win to the Kiwis on a platter.
New Zealand are certain of a semi final berth if they can undo Afghanistan in their final game.
