Wasim takes Sri Lanka to the finals

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 2-1 in the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy four-a-side football match played at the Colombo Race Course yesterday (16).

Prior to this crucial match to select the second team to qualify for the finals of the tournament, Sri Lanka was in a strong position, drawing one match and losing one match, while Bangladesh won one match and drew one match.

Wasim Razik scored the first goal of the match, putting pressure on the Bangladesh team. In the 25th minute of the match, a ball hit the hand of the Bangladesh goalkeeper and hit the goal from inside the penalty frame.

Duckson Puslas was sent off in the 35th minute for a foul on the back of the net.

At that point, the Bangladeshi players had a chance to take a penalty kick, but Bangladesh’s Topu Barman was unable to do so as the ball bounced over the right goal frame.

Sri Lanka’s frontline players Kavindu Ishan and Dillon de Silva had to retire due to injuries.
