Sri Lanka recorded a 164 run win against the West Indies at Galle International Stadium today. The spin duo Ramesh Mendis and Lasith Embuldeniya made 5-fers each to skittle the visitors to just 132.
With Pathum Nissanka scoring 73, Sri Lanka made only 204 runs in the first Innings. Permaul made 5 wickets West Indies were having a slight lead when they made 253 for their first Innings. Ramesh Mendis took 6 wickets.
Sri Lanka had a bad start for the first Innings but Pathum Nissanka once again score 66. However, Dhananjaya De Silva made an astounding 155* and put a Sri Lankan record breaking partnership of 124 runs with Lasith Enbuldeniya for the 9th wicket.
After Embuldeniya was bowled on 39 today in the morining, skipper Dimuth Karunaratne made a bold declaration. West Indies were given a target of 297 to win and a day to bat. However, the spin duo once again ran amok with the ball and made 5 fers. Ramesh Mendis made a match bag of 11 wickets.
Dhananjaya De Silva was awarded man of the match for his 155*. On a bittersweet note, Sri Lanka coach Mickey Arthur parts ways as this was his last match with the team, before moving to Derbyshire CCC.
