The Gladiators take a sharp victory

The 16th match of the 2021 LPL Tournament played between Galle Giants and Galle Gladiators last night (14). The Gladiators won the Premadasa International Cricket Stadium by 9 points. With that victory, the Gladiators qualified for the last four.

Giants skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to field. The umpires decided to restrict one innings to 14 overs due to the adverse weather conditions.

The Giants did not get off to their usual start and were only able to score 29 runs in the Powerplay. Dickwella was bowled out for three in the first three overs and Mohammad Amir took the decisive wicket.
Phil Salt then joined Janith Liyanage on the field for the second wicket, building a quick 90-run stand off 63 balls to put the Gladiators under pressure.
Left-arm spinners Patel Dasun Shanaka and Salt, who took the decisive two wickets in the Giants 'innings, won the man-of-the-match award and in the end the Giants were unable to reach their target.'

Accordingly, Jaffna Kings, Dambulla Giants and Galle Gladeators have qualified for the next round of the LPL this year. The Colombo Stars and Kandy Warriors will battle it out for the decisive final.
