Dimuth Karunarathna nominated for ICC’s Cricketer of the Year award

Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year award, the most prestigious award at the International Cricket Council's annual awards ceremony. Five of the best cricketers in the world have been nominated for this, out of which Dimuth Karunaratne has become a prominent star.

Every year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) holds an awards ceremony to select the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year, ODI Player of the Year, Twenty20 Player of the Year and Emerging Player of the Year. England all-rounder Ben Stokes won the award last year, and the first award was presented to Rahul Dravid at the 2004 Awards.
At the International Cricket Council's Test Cricketer of the Year award, Devon Conway averaged 63.2 runs in three Tests this year, averaging 63.2, playing nine Tests for Pakistan, averaging 455 and averaging 45.50 a year. Joe Root, who averaged 57.61 with 1544 runs in 13 Tests, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who has taken 52 wickets in eight Tests this year and averaged 16.23, are among the contenders.
