A ceremony was held today (15) in Bahrain to recognize the talents of the athletes who participated in the Asian Youth Para Games in Bahrain.
The event was held at the Artificial Hockey Stadium in Colombo under the patronage of Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs.
The Hon. Namal Rajapaksa and other invited guests presented gifts to the athletes and later the Minister of Sports extended his congratulations to the athletes.
At the recent Asian Youth Para Games, Sri Lankan athletes won 12 medals throughout the tournament.
Most notable swimmer Galina Basnayake won three gold and one silver, while Mohamed Zafran won one gold and one silver.
In addition, athlete Jason Jayawardena won two silver medals, swimmer Naveed Rahim won one bronze medal and athlete Janani Wickramasinghe won three bronze medals.
