The deadly spin combination of Traveen Mathew and Dunith Wellalage helped Sri Lanka qualify into the U19 Asia Cup finals. They restricted Pakistan Under 19 to just 125 runs in the low scoring thriller.
Sri Lanka U19s won the toss and chose to bat, only to get to a horrid start and find themselves struggling at 70/8. The opening fast bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Yasiru Rodrigo made a comeback for Sri Lanka with a 47 run partnership. Both scored 31 runs each which contributed to the below par 147 total.
However, Pakistan also found themselves in a similar situation. They lost 3 quick wickets thanks to Traveen Mathew. He ended with tidy figures of 4 for 14 and skipper Dunith Wellalage finished the game with 3 wickets.
Sri Lanka Under 19 won the match by 25 runs thanks for disciplined bowling.
Traveen Mathew won the man of the match award. Sri Lanka will play the Under 19 Asia Cup finals tomorrow against India Under 19s. The last time they came into a finals was back in 2018.
