It has been reported that Bhanuka Rajapaksa has reserved his decision on retiring from International Cricket. After discussion with Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa yesterday, he has informed Sri Lanka Cricket by a letter on his decision.
The 30 year old is reported to have made himself available for selection for the Tour of Australia. A lot of social media posts were shared, pleading for Bhanuka Rajapaksa to rethink on his sudden decision to retire.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa in a letter, informed to Sri Lanka Cricket that he made his decision on retirement to put his family first as an expecting father. He is a recent inclusion to the team since last year and played a pivotal role in the T20 World Cup as a middle order batter.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa will not be available for the upcoming Zimbabwe Tour and several other players have failed to meet the new fitness criteria. Several other players are down with Covid-19 and 2 key players just recovered from it. The ODI series against Zimbabwe will begin this Sunday.
