Sri Lanka led by Chamari Athapaththu beat Scotland Women on their 1st game of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games T20 Qualifiers by 109 runs.
A special moment was captured where Chamari shared her Player of the Match Award with 21 year old debutant Sachini Nisansala for her bowling effort. Chamari was awarded player of the match for hitting 86 runs. She also scored the fastest Women’s T20 50 by a Sri Lankan.
Sri Lanka batted first and put 182 runs on the board for the loss of 4 wickets. Chamari his 2 sixes and 13 fours in her 45 ball stay at the crease. Harshitha Madhawi and Nishika De Silva scored 32 each.
The bowling effort saw the Scotland Women getting skittled to just 73. Their top scorer Ellen Watson was retired hurt on 30. Debutant Sachini Nisansala, Ama Kanchana and Udeshika Prabodini captured 2 wickets each.
