Sri Lanka’s top-order batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa has consulted the sports dietician Prof. Ranil Jayawardene.
The 30-year-Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who has revoked his retirement but has failed the fitness tests (skinfolds) and hence out of selectors’ favour for the national duty, is determined to be fully fit for the upcoming IPL matches.
Prof. Ranil Jayawardena is a medically qualified clinical nutritionist.
“Bhanuka has consulted Prof. Ranil Jayawardena in his own personal capacity”, one of the sources, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo, said.
He will also be looked after by the SLC’s medical team.
Prof. Ranil received his medical training from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He passed his MSc (Hon) in clinical nutrition from the University of Glasgow. He also has a PhD in nutrition from Australia’s Queensland University. Currently, he is a senior lecturer in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
Bhanuka, who is to arrive in India shortly to play in the IPL (for the Punjab Kings team) has been asked to strictly follow the diet plan given by Prof. Ranil Jayawardena
