Smith and Starc join hands to support Sri Lankan Crisis

Australian cricketers Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc have joined hands with United Nations Sri Lanka in an appeal for humanitarian aid for the current severe economic crisis.

A video message was shared raising awareness of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, also reminding the viewers where the late Shane Warne was remembered in carrying out a humanitarian operation after the 2004 Tsunami.

Australia is the first visiting team to Sri Lanka after the crisis and despite having already won the series, did not forget to extend their support because “that’s what neighbours do”.

The humanitarian project is estimated at $47.2 Million and is targeted to provide relief to affected families for a period of 4 months. Several other non government organisations are also contributing towards the cause and in the best interests of the country, the Australian cricketers are calling for aid from the international community.

Those willing to assist can do so by making donations via the following link (Australian High Commision): https://srilanka.embassy.gov.au/…/ResponseSupportforSri…
