Yupun Abeykoon finished in 4th place (10.21seconds ) at the Stockholm Diamond League 100m race held in Stockholm.
South Africa’s Akani Simbine finished 1st place with 10.02 seconds. Reece Prescod came in 2nd and Jimmy Vicaut managed to marginally come ahead Yupun in 3rd place.
Marcell Jacobs was replaced after an injury concern. Yupun who was cautious since his false start last time was slow to start yesterday and it cost him a top 3 finish.
However, his participation in a World Class invitation only event as a Sri Lankan is very promising. He has already qualified for the World Athletics Championship in Oregon this month.
