Day4-All eyes on Chinthana Vidanage today

Few Sri Lankan athletes s will be in action on the day four (August 1) at the 22nd Commonwealth Games currently underway in Birmingham.

The lineup begins with the action of weight lifting champion Commonwealth Games gold medalist Chinthana Vidanage competing in the Men’s 81 kg category. All Sri Lankans hope that Vidanage end up with a podium finish.

Vidanage competed in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games since 2002.  He has won a Gold medal in 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Australia in 62kg Men’s combined event

He also recorded a Silver medal at 2010 Commonwealth Games held in India in the in Men’s 69kg category with a Game record of 308kg.

He did not take part in 2014 event

There are two male and female athletes in action in Judo today. Vimukthi Premarathna will compete in the Men’s 60kg round of 16 while Chamila Marupillage competing in Women’s 48lg round of 16.

Ganga Senevirathna will be in action in Women’s 200m backstroke heats.

In Squash Chanithma Sinela will compete in Women’s Singles Plate
