Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has denied media reports that approval for the Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2022 squad was provided late by him.
Issuing a communique, Sports Minister’s office vehemently denied the allegations and instead confirmed that the file regarding the squad information reached the Minister only on the 19th of August and then approval was provided within an hour.
The Minister has also directed the secretary of the Ministry of Sports to launch an inquiry to determine if there has been any delay by any authorities in submitting the squad details.
Accordingly, secretary to the Ministry of Sports has sent a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket calling for an explanation why the documents regarding the squad information were not properly sent and delayed, which has caused inconvenience to the Sports Minister.
