Lanka Premier League begins tonight with DOUBE HEADER

The Lanka Premier League 2022 is set to begin today as the island nation recovers from the severe economic catastrophe that it experienced a few months ago.

The opening game is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and features the defending champions Jaffna Kings and the Galle Gladiators.

Colombo Stars and Kandy Falcons will play each other in the second game of the day at 7:30 pm.

The LPL 2022 will take place over 18 days in Hambantota, Pallekele, and Colombo (RPS). The five teams that will participate in the 2019 season are Colombo Stars, Dambulla Giants, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy Warriors. In the season’s opening match at Hambantota, the Galle Gladiators and the two-time champions Jaffna Kings will square off.

For the league stage of the LPL 2022, a double round-robin format will be followed. The top four clubs will then compete in the playoffs. In Qualifier 1, the top two teams will compete, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will square off in the Eliminator. The Qualifier 1 victor advances to the final match. For a spot in the title decider, the winner of the Eliminator will compete against the loser of Qualifier 1. On December 23, the title game will be held.
