The SKY Cricket Women’s team from Sri Lanka sponsored by Nippon Paint Lanka on a tour of Malaysia recently, emerged winners all the way when they beat the Malaysian Women’s National Team in both the T20 series and the 40-over series. SKY Cricket won the 3-match, T20 series 2/1 and the 40-over, 2-match series 1/0.
“This is a sponsorship that we are very proud of,” said Nemantha Abeysinghe, General Manager of Nippon Paint Lanka. “All the players are from the outskirts of Colombo and also from low-income families. We took 14-players to Malaysia and 11 of them had fresh passports; it was their first overseas visit.
We at Nippon Paint Lanka wanted to showcase their talents before a bigger audience and open up new avenues in their cricketing career, so that they and their families could have a better lifestyle. We don’t just make paints and coatings. At Nippon we want to make the lives of our people more colourful.”
