The 32 teams from the schools under 19 Division One tournament will battle for this inaugural tournament while our task is to produce top-level hard-hitters and young cricketers for in the white ball format which is a good platform to reach National level said Nihal Pathirage who was the 1986 Nalanda cricket captain and former BRC under 23 captain.

This tournament is the beginning of a new chapter for schools cricket and we are planning to conduct this on an annual basis with the support of the sponsors. We have to introduce a new concept for this tournament and look after players’ motivation and psychology side as well as English language which are vital areas to build up good cricketers at school level. The immediate past President of the NPCA Upul Gamage who was the Nalanda 50th big match (1979) captain said today we saw cricket talent is less due in the white ball format but we know India has made vast progress due to IPL and our plan is to make big hitters and good rounders at school level.

We hope to get four schools from the Northern Province and four girl teams for a separate T10 tournament which gives a chance to lower-division schools to take part.

An Elite panel of cricket umpires and good administrators are involved with this tournament and we want to have a high standard for this T- 10 tournament while prize money worth two and a half lakhs for the champion team as well as luxury type training worth more then 2.5 lakhs is eligible for the champion team and a sports goods bag from Chance Sports.
