Experienced Lankan Paddler and National women’s champion Ishara Madurangi started her World TT Contender campaing in a winning note when she defeated Jordan opponent Zeina Sadaqa at the first qualifying round game played in Amman, Jordan yesterday.
Madurangi made a four setter game as she took an early lead 11/8. However she lost the second set 10/12 after a close fight. She fought back strongly to win third and fourth sets 13/11, 11/7 to finish the game with 3-1 lead. Ishara will meet Hungarian number one player today at the same venue.
This tournament is very important to improve Ishara’ s world ranking while she is focused on next Olympics. Ishara is on a scholorship awarded by the NOC of Sri Lanka and hope to bring international fame to country.
