Harmanpreet Kaur and Co suffered a heartbreak as India crashed out of the semis with a 5-run defeat against Australia. The Women in Blue looked down and out before Jemimah and Harmanpreet put them in contention. However, the Australians kept their nerve with a stroke of good fortune to see themselves into their 8th World Cup final.
Although after losing by 11 runs to Group B winners England, Harmanpreet and company rallied to win against Ireland. Being the leading run-scorer in the Women’s T20Is and the World Cup 2023, Smriti Mandhana hit her second consecutive fifty during the competition. The head-to-head record between Australia and India speaks volumes about how dominant the Australians have been over the years, thus the Women in Blue will face a difficult challenge in making it to the semifinals.
