It was a bitter pill for SRH to swallow as they appeared to be cruising towards victory in the run chase, only to let the game slip away from their grasp. KKR had set a challenging target of 171 runs after opting to bat first, with Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh top-scoring with 42 and 46 runs respectively. T Natarajan was the standout bowler for SRH, taking two wickets for 30 runs. Although SRH lost three wickets in the powerplay, Aiden Markram and Klaasen put them back in control with a brisk 70-run partnership from just 47 balls.
However, Shardul Thakur’s dismissal of Klaasen and a poor shot from Markram brought KKR back into the game. Although Samad and Jansen were at the crease, only 38 runs were required off 30 balls. Varun Chakravarthy’s sixteenth over, which conceded only four runs, shifted the momentum in KKR’s favor. The mystery spinner gave away just eight runs from the three overs he bowled at the death, ultimately securing the victory for KKR. Despite needing just nine runs off the final over, SRH fell short by five runs.
@KKRiders won by 5 runs!!!
