Mumbai Indians dominated Royal Challengers Bangalore with a brilliant display of batting led by Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed 83 off just 35 balls. The ‘360 degree’ player’s outstanding effort helped Mumbai chase down a challenging target of 200 runs in just 16.3 overs, with Nehal Wadhera also scoring a half-century and Ishan Kishan contributing 42 runs at the top.
Earlier, Mumbai’s bowlers fought back strongly after Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis’ onslaught, restricting RCB to 199/6. Maxwell scored a quickfire 68 off 33 balls, while Du Plessis made 65 runs off 41 balls, with the pair adding 120 runs for the third wicket after RCB lost two early wickets. Mumbai’s decision to field first paid off as Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets and conceding 36 runs in his four overs.
