The Defending Champions have qualified for the finals for the second consecutive time and they will face off against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. After being asked to bat first, GT posted an enormous total of 234 runs thanks to an exceptional inning by Shubhman Gill, who scored a blazing 129 runs off just 60 balls. This marked Gill’s third century of the season. Sai Sudharsan also played a crucial role, contributing to a 138-run partnership with Gill. Hardik Pandya’s quick cameo of 28 runs off 13 balls helped GT reach their formidable total of 234.
In response, MI struggled in the absence of Ishan Kishan, losing their top-order batsmen early on during the powerplay. Tilak Varma played a sensational inning of 43 runs off 14 balls, keeping MI’s scoring rate on par with the required target. Suryakumar Yadav once again showcased his skill under pressure, accumulating 61 runs off just 38 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Rashid Khan took the important wicket of Tilak Varma, while Mohit Sharma, who was introduced in the final overs, dismissed Yadav and swiftly dismantled the MI lower order. Due to mounting pressure, MI fell short by 62 runs in the end.
