Sri Lanka made 268 runs in their 50 overs in the first ODI against Afghanistan playing at the Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium, In Sooriyawewa , Sri Lanka.
After wining the toss Afghanistan Captain requested Sri lanka to take the first lease of the wicket. Pathum Nisssnka and Sri Lanka’s Test captain Dimuth Karunarathna opened Sri Lanka batting , yet Dimuth could not stayed long as espected for him to be and got himself out for 4 runs.
Kusal Mendis (11) and Anjelo Mathews (12) also got out cheaply . Pathum Nissanka made 38. Dhanajaya De Silva and Charith Asalanka built up a 99 run partnership for the fifth wicket before Dhanajaya De Silva making 51 runs. The middle order collapsed as usual while Charith Asalanka holding on to one end. Asalanka unfortunately got run out for 91 runs .
Sri Lanka managed to cross 268 mark at the end of fifty overs.
Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad took 2 wickets each for Afghanistan
