The Asian Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Teams Cup commenced with an exciting encounter between United Arab Emirates Women and Sri Lanka A Women at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
United Arab Emirates Women won the toss and elected to bat first in this 20-over match. The match took place on June 12, 2023, and featured teams from emerging cricket nations. Both teams were eager to start their campaign on a winning note and showcase their talent in this prestigious tournament.
United Arab Emirates Women put up a total of 95 runs in their allotted 19.3 overs during their innings against Sri Lanka A Women in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Teams Cup. Theertha Satish got the team off to a decent start with 16 runs off 10 balls, including two boundaries.
Esha Oza played an impressive knock, scoring 39 runs off 30 deliveries with two fours and two sixes. However, the UAE Women’s batting lineup struggled to maintain partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Madushika Methtananda was the star bowler for Sri Lanka A Women, taking four wickets for 16 runs in her 3.3 overs, while Malsha Shehani and Nimasha Meepage picked up two wickets each.
In response, Sri Lanka A Women achieved the target of 96 runs with one ball to spare, securing a hard-fought victory. Vishmi Gunaratne top-scored with 21 runs off 32 balls, while Umasha Thimeshani and Kaushini Nuthyangana made useful contributions of 10 and 14 runs respectively.
The UAE Women’s bowlers put up a spirited effort, with Esha Oza and Indhuja Nandakumar picking up two wickets each. However, it was not enough to prevent Sri Lanka A Women from clinching the win.
