The Netherlands created a major upset as they defeated the West Indies in the Super Over in their ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Group ‘A’ match played at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe yesterday.
The Netherlands hammered 30 for no loss in the Super Over with Logan van Beek doing all the scoring with the aid of three sixes and three boundaries off Jason Holder.
Player of the Match Van Beek then bowled a splendid Super Over for The Netherlands and conceded just eight runs to the opposition while capturing both wickets to fall.
Earlier, the former two-time champions were set for a convincing victory after they rattled up a massive 374 for six in 50 overs with Nicholas Pooran smashing a 65-ball 104 inclusive of six sixes and nine boundaries.
However, The Netherlands were not prepared to surrender meekly as they produced a stunning batting performance to level the scores with Teja Nidamanuru stroking a fighting 111 from just 76 deliveries.
