All rounder Dunith Wellalage will lead the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team for the inaugural ACC men’s Emerging teams Asia Cup cricket tournament which will commence on July 13. The National selection committee already named this squad but it has to be approved by the Sports Minister.
Wellalage who was the former St Josephs College skipper as well as National under 19 team Sahan Arachchige and Dilshan Madushanka were named for the Zimbabwe tour as stand by players and they got chance to tour Zimbabwe but Wellalage was the only player not to get a chance as replacement. Chamika Karunaratne the bowling all rounder and all rounder Sahan Arachchige and paceman Matheesha Pathirana were among the National team and they are expected to return home today and join the team.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ team will meet Bangladesh ‘A’ in the opening game at SSC grounds on 13th while 8 teams divided into two groups will battle in this tournament.
