1st Test – PAKvSRI-The match evenly poised

Pakistan were 48 for 3 at the close of play on the fourth day of the first Test between hosts Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The hosts have set a target of 131 runs for Pakistan, after the visitors displayed a resounding show with the ball.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for a score of 269 runs on day four of the 1st Test against Pakistan being played in Galle.

Nauman Ali started things off by getting rid of Dimuth Karunaratne and finished with three wickets while Abrar Ahmed supported him well with three as well. Agha Salman got two important wickets as well but they were not able to break through the defense of Dhananjaya de Silva who continued his good form, and remained the top scorer with 82 runs.

For the tourists, however, Shaheen Shah Afridi remains the biggest weapon with the new ball

Sri Lankan  batsman Nishan Madushka scored a fifty, while Ramesh Mendis also chipped in with a well-made 42 runs which helped them to set this target, however de Silva was undoubtedly the host’s ‘lone warrior’ of the day.

Pakistan put in a resounding show with the bat in the first innings of the first Test, scoring 461 runs after Sri Lanka were bundled out for 312.

Saud Shakeel scored an unbeaten 208 to put Pakistan in the driving seat but all hope is not lost for Sri Lanka yet.
