The Diamonds have opened their World Cup campaign with an 86-30 victory over a dogged Zimbabwe but not without an early injury scare for captain Liz Watson.
Watson toppled over an advertising hoarding and into a television camera early in the match, grazing the back of her leg. She played on with the injury bandaged in the second term and started the third but left the game when the strapping loosened. It had little effect on her game, with the Diamonds captain contributing 16 goal assists and 26 feeds in her time on court.
The Diamonds head into the competition as the number one ranked side, but are looking to reclaim title of world champions which currently belongs to New Zealand after their 2019 World Cup win.
Final score read as 86-30
