Jayasuriya raises concerns about pitch conditions ahead of LPL qualifier matches

The ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, taking place at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and secund stage of the match concluded at Pallekele .LPL  is number one franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka . However, there has been a prevailing concern regarding the suitability of the pitches for the boundary-heavy nature of T20 cricket. This issue has led to several key players voicing their dissatisfaction with the current pitch conditions in the tournament.

The LPL 2023 has seen mostly low scoring games so far as the pitches at the Premadasa stadium have not suited the batters said B- Love Kandy   team skipper Wanindu Hasaranga.I can say this type of wickets is very unfair and players struggle with this type of wickets .We won the eliminator but I still say we can’t satisfied with this type of wickets .
Dambulla Skipper Kusal Mendis also pointed out dissatisfaction about the wickets at R.Premadsa at the prasantation ceremony of the league round game.

Meanwhile One prominent voice that has emerged in this conversation is that of Sanath Jayasuriya a legendary figure in Sri Lankan cricket. Jayasuriya, who has been an influential player in the history of the sport, took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter. He expressed his disappointment with the subpar wickets at the Premadasa Stadium and called for pitches in the Qualifier games that would be better suited to the aggressive and positive style of T20 cricket.

“Disappointed by poor wickets at Premadasa stadium for LPL. We crave pitches that fuel positive, aggressive play and electrify the fans. Hoping upcoming qualifiers feature better cricketing wickets please,” Jayasuriya wrote on Twitter.

Sanath Jayasuriya the Master Blaster also with the Dambulla Aura team as a mentor.

The spectators of the Galle Titans and Colombo Strikers game which ended with only 1 and half hours time were very disappointed.Collombo Strikers scored only 79 while Galle Titans reached that target in only 8.3 overs .

However Galle Titans coach Chamara Kapugedera said we can’t blame wickets at any game .The players have adjust to play the game .They are professional players and no excuse for them added Kapugedera the former Sri Lanka player now with Galle Titans as a Head coach.
