Sri Lanka’s 400m athletes progress to Asian Games finals

Sri Lanka’s Kalinga Kumarage and Anura Darshana progressed to the final of the Men’s 400m event at the Asian Games, while Nadeesha Ramanayake emulated her male compatriots in the Women’s 400m.

Kumarage clocked a time of 45.57 secs in Heat 1, finishing first, ahead of Yusuf Abbas of Bahrain (45.77 secs) and Muhammed Anas of India (46.29 secs).

Dharshana finished third in Heat 3, and while he could not seal an automatic qualifying spot, awarded to the top two in each heat, he progressed as one of the two fastest qualifiers.

Ramanayake meanwhile, finished second in Heat 2 of the women’s event, with a time of 52.67 secs, earning her a direct qualification spot.

Both finals will take place tomorrow, with the women’s final at 5:30 pm Sri Lanka time, followed by the men’s final at 5:40 pm.
