St Sylvester’s College led by Heshantha Jayasinghe won the 106th Stubbs Shield All Island Schools Boxing Championship for the 17th time. The meet featured a total of over 21 weight categories and the numbers of boxers were over 300 in this meet. the second place was taken by Kaduganawa National school they won two gold, one silver and three bronze medals and Trinity College took the third place with two gold, and two bronze. In the girls meet Hemamali Balika Vidyalaya took the second place.

This meet was held at the Royal College MAS Arena organized by the Schools Boxing Association of Sri Lanka… St. Sylvester’s at one time was in the forefront of schools boxing, winning the coveted Stubbs Shield several times (within 14 years they won it on 12 occasions in early days).
This time they gave a good display to win four gold medals by A.G.V.H. Jayasinghe,M.M Paris, M.A. Rahuman, M. Saheed, two silver medal winners were S.P.P.Angelo, Chalaka Kumara and bronze medal winner M. Mujayith and the best loser of the meet was S.P.P. Angelo. A big hand should go to the two coaches Bandulla Vithana Gamage who is a Chief Inspector of Police and Jamitha Bandara and also MICS. Shiva.
Hemamali BMV who took the second place in the girls meet, with two gold medals and their star boxer H.M. Nethmi Hearth was the best boxer in the girls event.
