The second match of CWC 2023 was played between Pakistan and the Netherlands at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. NED’s skipper, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first and took PAK’s opening 3 wickets in the first ten overs: 1-15 (Fakhar Zaman, 3.4 ov), 2-34 (Babar Azam, 8.3 ov), 3-38 (Imam-ul-Haq, 9.1 ov). For PAK, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan each contributed 68 runs to the innings. Bas de Leede was the pickup bowler for NED, taking 4 wickets, which included Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Hasan Ali. However, PAK could only manage to score 286 runs before being all out in 49 overs.
Chasing the target, NED started well in their innings, but PAK’s bowlers put pressure on NED’s batters, restricting them to 205 runs in 41 overs. Eventually, Pakistan won by 81 runs and earned 2 points for their table.
