Defending champions England were knocked out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as Australia won by 33 runs. Batting first, Australia scored 286 runs before being all out in 49.3 overs. Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith contributed 71 and 44 runs, respectively, to Australia’s innings. Chris Woakes (4), Mark Wood (2), and Adil Rashid (2) took wickets for England.
Chasing the target, England lost their opening wickets quickly, but Ben Stokes smashed 64 runs, while Joe Root scored 50 runs. However, it was not enough for victory, and England managed to score only 253 runs before being all out in 48.1 overs.
