Lankan Judo Coaches gain world recognition

The Olympic Solidarity Training Programme led by Amel Mekic, a coach from Bosnia affiliated with the International Judo Federation, wrapped up at the Torrington Indoor Stadium yesterday.

Throughout the week-long training, a total of 49 coaches—11 women and 38 men—from various parts of the country participated in the coaching sessions.

These sessions were conducted by the World Judo Federation, overseen by their Director of Coaching, Amel Mekic. All 49 coaches who took part in the training received a Level I Licence Certificate recognized by the World Judo Federation. This certification marks the first time such a program has been conducted in Sri Lanka.

The coaching programme commenced on November 2 and came to an end yesterday, concluding a successful and insightful series of sessions. Amel Mekic, representing the World Judo Federation, is set to depart from Sri Lanka today.
