King Kohli scored his 50th hundred in ODIs, breaking Tendulkar’s record in the 1st semi-final match of CWC 2023 against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium. Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Kohli’s 117 runs, Shreyas Iyer’s 105, and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 80 helped India post a challenging target of 398 for New Zealand. Tim Southee took 3 wickets for the NZ.
Chasing the challenging target, New Zealand lost opening wickets at regular intervals. However, Daryl Mitchell’s brilliance provided some hope for New Zealand fans. Mitchell scored 134 before falling to Mohammed Shami. Shami was the leading wicket-taker, taking 7 wickets and limiting New Zealand to 327 in 48.5 overs. Eventually, India won by 70 runs, securing a spot in the final.
