Silence filled Narendra Modi Stadium as everyone witnessed Travis Head’s brilliant batting performance, leading Australia to claim the World Cup. Earlier, AUS Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to field first. IND skipper Rohit Sharma hit the first six for the Final and built a 30-run partnership with Shubman Gill. After that, Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul (66) added some runs to the IND innings. As a result of the AUS bowling attack, IND posted 240 runs in their allocated 50 overs.
Chasing the victory, Australia’s opening three wickets were dismissed quickly. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne put on a winning partnership of 192 runs to silence the Blue crowd. Unfortunately, Head couldn’t finish the game, and Mohammed Siraj claimed his wicket after he scored 137 runs with 15 fours and 4 sixes. Finally, Glenn Maxwell scored the winning two runs, securing Australia’s victory by 6 wickets. With this win, Australia claims their sixth World Cup.
