Lankan team shines at Asian Masters’ Athletic Championships

The recently concluded Asian Masters’ Athletic Championships held in the scenic New Clark City, Philippines, saw the Sri Lanka team achieve remarkable success.

The Sri Lankan athletes showcased their exceptional skills and determination, securing a total of 84 medals, including an impressive 25 golds, 34 silvers, and 25 bronzes.

The Asian Masters’ Athletic Championships served as a platform for athletes from different nations to come together, compete, and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship. It provided an opportunity for individuals to showcase their skills and represent their respective countries with pride. The Sri Lankan contingent made the most of this occasion and demonstrated their capabilities on the grand stage.

One shining star among the Sri Lankan athletes was Darshana Attanayake, who emerged as the top performer by winning five gold medals. Attanayake’s exceptional talent and relentless effort led her to triumph in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×100m relay, and 4×400m relay events. Hailing from the Badulla District, Attanayake has been honing her skills since young days at the Kotuwawatta, Kahaththewela training grounds in Bandarawela.
