MAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd emerged as the undisputed overall champions in the Mercantile Tennis Tournament 2023. The tournament, concluded with grandeur at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association last week, saw Lanka Minerals and Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd securing the runners-up position. The event was graced by the presence of Iqbal bin Issack, President of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association, as the chief guest.
The women’s doubles category witnessed stellar teamwork from MAS Holding (Pvt) Ltd as Sujani Bogollagama and Janali Manamperi secured victory, while Natasha Jayasinghe and Thilini Leeniyagolla, also from MAS Holding (Pvt) Ltd, claimed the runners-up position. The mixed doubles category was dominated by Yashita de Silva and Janali Manamperi from MAS Holding (Pvt) Ltd, with Sanka Athukorale and Dinisha Bopitiya from Lanka Minerals and Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd securing the runners-up spot.
Individual triumphs unfolded with Janali Manamperi from MAS Holding (Pvt) Ltd clinching the women’s singles title. Meanwhile, Sanka Athukorale from Lanka Minerals and Chemicals Pvt Ltd emerged victorious in the men’s singles division 1. Mark Senevirathne from MAS Holding Pvt Ltd secured the men’s singles division 2 title, with Kushal Wijewickrama from Quebee Deh Pvt Ltd as the runners-up. In the men’s singles division 3, Romesh Nalla Peruma from Lanka Minerals and Chemicals Pvt Ltd secured the win, while Shaveen de Silva from Sysco Labs Technologies Pvt Ltd claimed the runners-up position.
Doubles excellence was on display as Yashitha de Silva and Mark Seneviratne from MAS Holding Pvt Ltd triumphed in the men’s doubles category, with Sanka Athukorale and Pramodh Lakshan from Lanka Minerals and Chemicals Pvt Ltd securing the runners-up position. In the over 35 men’s singles category, Sanka Athukorale from Lanka Minerals and Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd emerged as the champion, while Sohan Patrick from MAS Holding (Pvt) Ltd displayed commendable skills as the runners-up.
