The Sri Lanka Paralympic Committee has taken a significant step forward by signing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with three Asian countries-Iran, Korea, and Japan—to boost para games development in Sri Lanka, as announced by the Sri Lanka Paralympic Committee yesterday.
Under this MoUs, these three nations have committed to supporting the development of para sports in Sri Lanka. They have agreed to invite Sri Lankan para athletes to participate in competitions in their respective countries, providing all necessary facilities and offering training to Sri Lanka’s Paralympic coaches.
As part of the agreement, Sri Lanka will receive equipment, high-performance training for athletes and coaching sessions for para coaches within the country. The MoUs also specifies that Japan, Korea, and Iran will facilitate four para games in Sri Lanka, covering para athletics, para badminton, para archery, and para shooting.
These agreements were formalized during the recent Asian Paralympic Committee Annual General Meeting, which took place from November 24 to 29 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The meeting brought together 46 Paralympic Committee Presidents from countries across the region, marking a collaborative effort to enhance para sports development in Asia.
