Sri Lanka under 19 team led by Sineth Jayawardena will meet Bangladesh today (13) in Dubai which is going to be the decider for the Sri Lanka team to find a place in the semi finals.
Sri Lanka beat Japan without any trouble in their opening game but a shock defeat by UAE on Monday Sineth Jayawardena and the team now is under pressure to play against Bangladesh . Bangladesh already won both games on top of the points table and they are looking to remain unbeaten to come on top to enter the semi final . Sri Lanka having strong batting line up but they were not up to expectations and managed to get 220 runs which was not enough to beat UAE . The less experienced UAE team led by Aayan Khan did well to reach Sri Lankan target in 48.2 overs and that upset victory raised hopes for UAE to qualify for the semi final.
UAE will play next match against Japan and they are ready to maintain good run rate to enter the semi final .
Sri Lanka batters having some trouble against UAE bowlers and skipper Sineth Jayawardena and Dinura Kalupahana unbeaten 56 made useful knocks but Kalupahana the stylish stroke maker couldn’t make his usual innings and made slow innings while opener Pulindu Perera the inform batter scored only 24and openers Hirun Kapurubandara was back in the pavilion scoring 1 run in 10 balls and Sri Lanka team will make few changes today to beat Bangladesh.
The paceman Garuka Sanketh was the only successful bowler having three wickets but experienced Malsha Tharupathi gave away 52 runs in his 9 overs spell took only one wicket and his performance also a big headache for Sri Lanka team and they are expected to replace Tharupathi but it’s not confirmed.
If spinner is required it could be Dinuka Tennakoon from Trinity. Sri Lanka team had a training session yesterday morning and they will finalize the team this morning.
