Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka’s brilliant 185-run partnership set a new record for Sri Lanka’s highest 4th-wicket partnership in ODI history, guiding them to a 3-wicket victory over Bangladesh.
Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bowl first. Wanindu Hasaranga once again delivered impactful spells, taking four important wickets, while Dilshan Madushanka claimed two. However, Bangladesh managed to score 286/7 runs in their allocated 50 overs.
In reply, Sri Lanka lost their first three wickets quickly but Pathum (114) and Charith (91) rebuilt the Sri Lankan innings effectively. After that, Bangladesh took some wickets and fought for victory till the end, but Sri Lanka chased down the target with 17 balls to spare. The series is tied 1-1 and the final one-day match is scheduled to be held on March 18.
