Gujarat Titans registered a three-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024. Chasing 143 runs, the Shubman Gill-led franchise completed the task in 19.1 overs with three wickets in hand. Shubman, Sai Sudharsan, and Rahul Tewatia played good knocks.
Harshal Patel dismissed three batters.
Earlier, Punjab Kings were bowled out for 142 runs. Prabhsimran Singh, Harpreet Brar, and Sam Curran were impressive with the bat. Sai Kishore took 4 wickets.
Kishore’s four wickets combined with Afghanistan spinners Noor Ahmad (2-20) and Rashid Khan (1-15) to help dismiss Punjab for 142 runs in 20 overs after Gujarat lost the toss.
Rahul Tewatia scored 36 not out of 18 balls as Gujarat reached 146-7 in 19.1 overs.
Punjab’s batting fell apart, with Prabhsimran Singh top-scoring with 35 off 21. He hit three sixes. No other top-six batter exceeded the 20-run mark with Sam Curran scoring 20.
Gujarat’s spinners reduced Punjab to 99-7 in 15.2 overs at one stage.
In reply, Shubman Gill scored 35 and Sai Sudharsan made 31 runs as they shared 41 for the second wicket.
The Titans were cruising before the middle order lost momentum. Liam Livingstone got 2-19, while Harshal Patel took 3-15 to restrict the chase.
But Tewatia helped finish the game for sixth-place Gujarat, with a fourth win in eight games. It was ninth-place Punjab’s sixth loss.
