Sri Lankan Paralympic gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha Herath who secured the second place in the Javelin Throw F-46 category at the World Para Athletic Championship held in Kobe, Japan, has been disqualified following protest on his eligibility.
The complaint prompted a medical classification review for Dinesh Priyantha, resulting in Priyantha being disqualified from the event and India’s Rinku Hooda and Ajeet Singh being awarded silver and bronze medals respectively.
Although Dinesh Priyantha Herath has secured qualification for the Paris Olympics, the development could pose a setback to his Paralympic qualification.
