It was a good start for South Africa as they registered their first victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The South African bowlers showcased their brilliance, restricting Sri Lanka to 77 in 19.1 overs. Anrich Nortje was the highest wicket-taker for South Africa, taking 4 wickets for just 7 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka did not give up and put some pressure on the South African batters, taking 4 wickets. However, South Africa chased down the target with 22 balls to spare.
