Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka’s knocks, followed by the equal contributions from the entire bowling unit helped Sri Lanka defeat Netherlands by 83 runs in their T20 World Cup 2024, Group D match.
Chasing a whopping target of 202, Netherlands started the proceedings on a good not but Sri Lanka bowlers quickly bounced back and bundled them out for 118.
For SL, Nuwan Thushara scalped three wickets while skipper Wanindu Hasaranga and and Matheesha Pathirana scalped two wickets each. Apart from them, Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka also scalped one wicket each.
As Bangladesh defeated Nepal and entered the Super 8s stage, Netherlands got knocked out from the race.
