Trinity suffered unexpected defeat in Inter Schools’ Rugby Leage

The inter school rugby competition unfolded for the third week creating one of the biggest upsets.
Most fancied Trinity College were beaten by D D Denanayake College at the Havelock’s Grounds. Trinity looked more dangerous from the beginning nevertheless D S hold their nerves to record a historical 14-10 victory at the long whistle.

St Joseph’s college beat Zahira College 26-22 after a thrilling encounter. The match was evenly poised till the ended as both teams played excellent game of rugby to entertain the packed crowd

Thurstan College suffered another heavy loss from the hands of Wesley College. Wesley came after a win over Zahira College last week were too strong for Thurstan and went down 70-3 at the end.

The defending champions St. Peter’s College locked horns with Kingswood College Kandy at Nittawela Grounds. Bamba brigade was unstoppable and thrashed the opponents 46-3 to register their second victory of the tournament.

Sri Sumangala College and Dharmaraja College meet at Bogambara. Both suffered losses during the first week and wanted to register a victory against their name. Dharamaraja outclassed Sri Sumangala to register their first victory 32-12.

St. Thomas’s College, Mount Lavinia after losing their first match against Trinity College met St Anthony’s College Kandy in their home grounds. Thomians found the opponents uneasy yet managed to secure a victory 245-17

The final two games of the second week of the Inter schools’ rugby league concluded on Sunday

Royal College met Vidyartha College in the Inter schools’ Rugby League 2024 at Nittawela Grounds today. Bothe teams came unbeaten and Kandy lads were ready to face Royal Tuskers at their home territory. Tuskers came strongly in the rain effected game and recode red their second win in the league with 25-10 margin.

Science College, Mount Lavinia hosted Isipathana College, Colombo at Air Force Grounds, Ratmalana. Green Machines tried to get the advantage from the beginning but Science College gave them a god resistance. Both teams wanted to register a victory at the long whistle but Isipathana took the game to their favour as the final score read as 19-9.
