Sri Lanka Women won the first T20 international against the West Indies Women by four wickets making 137 for 6 wickets in 18.4 overs having dismissed their opponents for 134 yesterday at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International cricket stadium yesterday.

The Player of the Match winner for the Lankans was skipper Chamari Athapaththu who excelled with the ball claiming career best 4 for 29 though scoring just 1 run when they batted.

However, 18-year-old schoolgirl batting prodigy Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama consolidated the innings adding 46 for the second wicket. Gunaratne continued her pleasing Player of the Series form in the ODI series triumph against the West Indies scoring a quickfire 25 off 35 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries while Harshitha scored a run a ball 35 hitting 3 boundaries.

The final charge was carried by Hasini Perera 14 off 20 with 3 to the ropes and Nilakshika Silva unbeaten on 17 off 15 balls reaching the boundary twice.
