It is Pink Day at LPL. Both teams’ players are supporting the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink to today’s match, the 16th game between the Galle Marvels and the Dambulla Sixers.
After winning the toss, the Dambulla Sixers elected to field first. For the first wicket, skipper Niroshan Dickwella and Alex Hales scored 44 runs for Galle. Alex Hales contributed 38 runs off 26 balls, including 5 fours and one six. Galle’s middle-order wickets fell quickly, but the Galle Marvels posted 148/9 in their allocated 20 overs. Dushan Hemantha and Mohammad Nabi took 2 wickets each for the Dambulla Sixers.
In reply, Reeza Hendricks’ superb knock of 72 brought Dambulla close to victory. In the final over, Dambulla needed 8 runs to win. Maheesh Theekshana’s magical spell limited Dambulla’s innings to 148, turning the match into a super over.
In the Super Over, the Dambulla Sixers only managed to score 6 runs, losing one wicket. The Galle Marvels easily chased down the target and won the match.
